Can a 30㎡ Family Room Accommodate a Slide and Climbing Frame? — A Family Suite Solution for Hotel Owners

Yes. In fact, we recommend it.

A 30-square-meter family room, if furnished with a traditional double bed and a slide, is indeed cramped. But by changing the design logic—from “flat layout” to “vertical stacking”—space is not a limitation; instead, it can become a three-dimensional playground that will delight children.

I. 30㎡ Space Solution: "Standing Up" the Equipment

Suite ceilings are typically over 2.8 meters. This 2.8-meter height represents your unused “hidden space.”

We integrate slides, climbing frames, crawling nets, and second-floor platforms into a single three-dimensional combination, with all functions extending upwards. Only a corner of the floor needs to be reserved (minimum 1.8m x 1.2m) to create a complete vertical play area. The child climbs from the climbing frame to the second-level platform and then slides down the slide, all within a 3-square-meter area—leaving 27 square meters of space for a large bed, desk, and play area.

II. Applying Three Standards For a 30-Square-Meter Room

The following three standards can be followed during kid suite design:

 * Equipment footprint ≤ 3 square meters: Installed against a corner, not encroaching on the main passageway.

 * Slide exit buffer distance ≥ 1.5 meters: This area overlaps with the room’s carpeted play area, without taking up extra space.

 * Total equipment height ≤ 2.5 meters: The ceiling should not interfere with chandeliers, allowing sufficient height for ventilation and lighting.

Meeting these three points ensures the equipment can be safely installed and used.

III. Layout Scheme Reference

Linear against a wall (suitable for rooms with greater depth): The equipment is arranged against a long wall, with the climbing frame on top and the slide extending diagonally, the exit facing the central open space of the room.

Corner L-shaped (suitable for larger rooms): The playground equipment fits into the angle between two walls, with the climbing structure and slide facing different directions, maximizing the use of “unused space” in the corner.

Two options are available. We provide on-site surveys and 3D renderings to help you confirm the equipment’s dimensions in your actual space before construction, avoiding the situation where “it looks good in the pictures but feels cramped after installation.”

IV. Practical Tips for Hotel Owners

Design First, Then Procure: Don’t buy equipment first and then find a location. We recommend first creating a family room space plan, and then customizing the equipment dimensions based on that plan.

Colors Blend with Decor: Not all slides need to be bright red or green. Natural wood tones and Morandi color schemes can seamlessly integrate with the hotel’s soft furnishings, enhancing the overall ambiance.

Utilize the Space Below: A picture book shelf or toy storage cabinet can be installed under the climbing frame, turning the “foot space” of the vertical structure into a functional area.

Building slides and climbing frames in 30㎡ is not a test of space, but rather a test of design thinking. We offer a full-chain service from surveying and design to production and installation, helping you make the most of every inch of your family room with playground.
